Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Nice place as far as the physical set up. Pizza was average. Service was good.

Sat out on the patio last night for their happy hour specials. 1/2 half wine, wells and drafts. We had a 10" thin crust Hawaiian pizza which was just yummy! Our other favorite is sun-dried tomatoes, chicken and caramelized onion. The patio is a fun place to sit and people watch. During the sporting seasons, you really can't find a better place to watch you favorite game with like and not-so like minded people. We've never had bad service, drinks and food are great and reasonably priced. Plus it's an easy bike ride from our condo!

I'll make this fairly simple -- Good food? Yes. Good booze selection? Yes. Should you go? Yes.

This location is in desperate need of new management. The waitstaff is curt on the best of days and downright obnoxious most other times. The last time I walked in, I waited 15 minutes to even be greeted by the hostess. This time, after waiting for 15 minutes, we sat ourselves. We were then told we were sitting in the wrong section. When I told the waitress that they should then have a hostess at the door, she said there was a sign that said "seat yourself." Not only was that untrue, after seating ourselves, we were told to move--which we did. The waitress then disappeared for 10 minutes before returning to take our drink order. You would think eventually the service here would improve, but I guess that's why there are only a dozen people in here when there's room for 100 or more. Either the waitstaff needs to be retrained in proper customer service or the management needs to be replaced.

Don't know why this place has a bad rep. Maybe people don't like good food and good deals on food, but I sure as hell do. I went to Peppino's Pizza this past Wednesday with a buddy of mine, and it was certainly a great experience. It's located in downtown Grand Rapids, and parking isn't too bad either ($1.25 per hour). It's located near a lot of restaurants, but we decided to give Peppino's a shot. It sort of looks like a Buffalo Wild Wings when you first enter; it has TVs almost everywhere and there is a wide array of seating. It's a big area for any game that is going on, and definitely a better deal than Buffalo Wild Wings! We went on a Wednesday, and the happy hour specials that they had were $1.99 10" one-topping pizzas, and $4.99 cheesy bread. It's a pretty sweet deal, and I think they have the same deal on Mondays with $2.99 Bud Light pitchers from 8-midnight for Monday Night Football. I recall a good deal on wings as well, but your best bet is to just come in and see for yourself! As for the food, the cheesy bread was very filling in itself. It was only $4.99, and it's a huge round circular plate of just cheesy bread, unlike a dry, small portion that Domino's gives you. It comes with a huge cup of marinara sauce as well! As far as the main entrees go, we got a deep-dish pizza, which was $12.99. It's not like Giordano's in Chicago, by any means, but it was pretty damn good. Ten square pieces of pepperoni deep-dish pizza was very good, and the crust was cooked perfectly. All in all, it was good food in a good atmosphere. Total came out to be almost a flat $20, which isn't bad at all for pizza, cheesy breadsticks, a full stomach, AND leftovers. The service was very nice, although the food did come out a little late despite the amount of people that were there, but I'm not even complaining. It was good food when it finally came out. Definitely will be back here again, and I definitely recommend this place.

The food is alright. The service leaves everything to be desired. The drinks are way over priced and the servers and bartenders are complete dolts when it comes to knowing how to mix cocktails. When I left this place, I was wishing I had never gone in to begin with.

I just got back form Peppino's. Don't wase your time. The food is fair but the staff is less then professional. 3 of us arrived at 7:05 pm and was told that there was a 20 min. wait. standing int he bar we realized that there was several tables that were " reserved. After 35 min. we asked for the deskand was told that there would be another 25 min wait. With 30 minutes that passed we asked for a manager and miraculously we got a table. Still the tables that were reserved were not seated. After ordering immediately we had another 30 min wait for pizza and salad. After observing the dinning room we quickly relized that the manager"Mark" was favoring custumers and seating them ahead of us. We left at 9:20pm and the tables that were reserved were just being seated, WOW what a waste of $$$. They could have had at least another turn on all those tables before the reservation came. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK and I advise you not to either,

Pleasantly surprised by the food. Surprisingly disappointed in their available draft beer. For a cheesy, chain-like sports bar and eatery, they dish out some good food. Was I buzzed and willing to eat anything? Maybe...probably...okay, yes. But I can't discredit them completely because the appetizers and pizza were honestly good. For an area that prides itself in their local microbrews, I feel Peppino's could do a better job showcasing their beer. The options aren't terrible, but I expected better being that they're within walking distance from some quality breweries. Don't expect any specialty rare stuff. That being said, I would still hit up Peppinos again when I need to feed myself and do some sobering up before a long drive home.

Returned to this location on a Monday night for what turned out to be a surprise high school reunion at my expense (did not at all remember my classmate). High point was smart, courteous, expertly timed service by Miles--new to Peppino's, he said, and they're definitely lucky to have him. Beer and pizza specials were very good, as usual, but it was the standout attentive service that merits five stars.
(5)Kari C.
Stopped here after a concert late one night- thankful they were still serving food. Deep dish pizza was delicious and service was good.
(4)Tony S.
Poor service combined with undercooked chicken, a proven recipe for dissatisfied and sick victims!
(1)Matt S.
Peppino's is a semi-typical sports bar, but what they lack in originality, they make up for in great service and food. Their specials are something to not be overlooked, as they have something for the typical happy hour, as well as late night and closing deals. I've had several events here with large groups and the staff has been very accommodating. Even when we've had requests or scenarios that were out of the ordinary or against their standard operating procedures, the manager has been exceptionally receptive and willing to work with us. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five, is the food is very inconsistent. Sometimes it may be a little overdone, whereas other times it's exceptional.

I ordered a Peppino's Deluxe pizza last night. If you like bread, this one is for you. I think they must get their crust from the Butternut Bakery. I later saw other pizzas brought out that looked like a thin crust. Would have been nice too if our waitress would have asked what crust I preferred. I don't think she really cared.
(1)Jake D.
Our waitress Samantha...really?! Get it together! No plates or napkins... Forgot beer..Forgot water...Forgot guacamole. Really made it hard to have a enjoyable night! At one point we thought she was doing all this on purpose!
(1)Derrick V.
I went for the happy hour deal on Friday. It was not packed but it was a nice atmosphere. I went with good company so that helped. It is a good place to go if you have a group. The pizza is average nothing spectacular. The biggest catch that I noticed is the happy hour deals.
(3)Amy M.
Stopped in for a happy hour that happened to be right before a BIG hockey game. The place was packed and most people seemed to be having a good time. Our server kind of sucked, not very attentive and a bit forgetful....like I said, it was pretty packed but if you are forgetful then feel free to use that notepad! I got 2 of the HH specials - a 10" 1 topping pizza & wings - figured I would get both & take home the extras to share. I wasn't impressed with the pizza. Kinda surprised me because I thought it was a pizza place and it was just "meh". I liked the wings though - would go back for their HH wing deal but not likely for pizza.
(3)Ryan H.
They do not have their regular specials during events (Irish on Ionia). Incredibly disappointed, just because there is something going on downtown doesn't mean you can raise the prices.
(1)Elle B.
While visiting family, we went to this place on a Sunday afternoon because they love it and were regulars. Apparently they usually have these flat/wide spaghetti noodles that drive my 2yr old cousin wild, so I thought my daughter would enjoy it as well. Boy was I wrong. My salmon dish with mashed potatoes and green beans had potential to be a good dish except my sides were served ice cold, and of course by the time they got reheated the fish was cold and so on. Same for my mom's lasagna plate, everything was cold. The famed spaghetti we came for was also a disappointment because they were obviously store bought noodles and not the handmade (or similar) ones we wanted. The only complaint my aunt had with her salad was that it was mostly toppings and dressing with very little actual lettuce. And to add insult to cold food, the waitress was slow and obviously uninterested in our issues with our meals. All in all, a horrific time. I know that my family won't be back.
(1)Andrea M.
Never again! I was served a chicken wing with feathers still on it. They refused to do anything about it. We will never eat there again!
(1)Maurice F.
Just came in for a few drinks. Staff was friendly enough. Place was empty and we were able to talk basketball with my party. Decent place for watching sports on all their screens.
(3)Angie M.
I'm a Chicago girl. I know my pizza. This is not the real deal. Not by any means. I don't know, man. If you're going to do thin crust, I think the crust should at least stand up to the cheese and fight back a bit... Not self destruct under the pressure of a little cheese and sauce. The crust on this bad boy basically disintegrated beneath the toppings. I couldn't even pick up a slice without it falling apart. Also, the cheese to crust ratio was way off. Peppinos drops WAY too much cheese on their 'za. I like to be able to taste all components, not just be overwhelmed by cheese. On the plus side, delivery was prompt. So yeah... Peppinos could do better.
(2)Scott B.
By far the worst service. Sunday night. Only 1/4 full. Table of 8. Took 55 mins to get food. Food was cold and dried out. Service was cute and fun. Unprofessional immature and lacking to provide why people go out to eat during an evening downtown Grand Rapids. Completely failed at providing a customer experience that made us wanting to come back.
(1)Cassandra L.
Pizza, shuffleboard, walking distance from the other stuff I like in Grand Rapids... this place is awesome! I've been there twice. Once we sat inside and enjoyed pizza and beer and the many TVs, and then some shuffleboard-playing in the room next to the big dining area. The second time we sat outside on a beautiful night and enjoyed people-watching and appetizers along with our beers. It's a nice big place to enjoy some food and a good beer selection with friends. P.S. The 4 stars are more for the beer and short wait to be seated than for the actual quality of the restaurant, but I'm still a fan!
(4)Stacey G.
We were seated on the patio for a recent bachelorette party. Our table was ready and waiting outdoors and we had a blast! Thank you Lee & Jennifer!
(4)Amanda L.
The food is surprisingly good for a sports bar and yes, it's in a good location in Grand Rapids but it's meat market-y: Packed with lots of dudes wearing graphic, studded tee's and girls with tight Express clothes who dance when they drink too much. Good people watching if you like watching people try to make eyes and hook up with each other.
(3)Keith C.
1 star for shuffelboard and 2 stars for decent happy hour specials. Not many alternatives for watching sports in GR.
(3)Stephen H.
dont let the name fool you. Its a sports bar, first and foremost. The place is huge and there are plenty of tv's and pool tables for all. They have great happy hour specials and great prices on pizza, which was delish. But NOT an Italian restaurant
(3)Harold W.
Was in grand rapids for the weekend and didnt want to go here because i was not in the mood for pizza but they have awesome burgers! oddly enough the olive burger(w/blue cheese) was great and when we are in GR again i would stop by and watch my fav sport and have another burger!
(4)Derek H.
Personal pizza specials as well as drink specials on Monday. Plus two pool tables. The waiters were nice and respectful.

Let me start by saying I have waitressed before and don't really get upset about waitresses who are overwhelmed, a little slow, or even a little forgetful. I don't usually write reviews, but I wouldn't want anyone to bring hungry kids to this place, or die of the frustration we experienced. This may have been the worst service EVER. Our team went there for a later lunch (2:00). They were not particularly busy, maybe 5 tables. You would have swore they had never served a large group (20) before. It took about 25 minutes for them to figure out how two waitresses were going to serve the group. I just wanted to say, "Girls, the tip you are so worried about is getting smaller by the minute." Then they figured some ludicrous method which included all the people to reshuffle seats. We said forget that and suggested to just write the players jersey number on the ticket and anyone belonging to that family would go on the ticket. The look on the waitress' face was as if we had just explained nuclear physics to her. Anyway, the girl who said she was going to be our waitress never came back (probably her mind was still blown by the suggestion) so we ended up waiting another 10 min for a menu. Finally ordered, took a while to get the food (35 min). The waitress dropped the plates on the table and ran to get the next couple. Came back, dropped the next plates with a bang, refilled the pop once. Never asked how anything was. Food: Buffalo chicken wrap was one of the best I've had, o-rings good, homemade chips good, chicken Marsala was ok, green beans good, chicken caprese sandwich tasted like they scraped the char off the grill and called it chicken. No really...Breadsticks were awesome (the reason for one of the stars). Overall I wouldn't go back because of the service.
(2)Sabrina C.
Of all of the Peppinos.. this is my favorite. The location downtown is awesome, and there is just soo much space inside. I don't think I've ever actuallty ordered pizzed from this location, but the drinks are good and the pool table/shuffle board table area is awesome.

What a fun sports bar. When my friends and I arrived to this empty eatery at around 4 p.m. on a Saturday we were immediately torn in three different directions. One friend wanted to sit in the leather couches and watch baseball, another friend wanted to sit at the bar and sip tall pints of Blue Moon. I wanted to go play shuffleboard on what appeared to be the longest shuffleboard table in the history of sports bars. We wen't for a compromise, ordered some tall brews, played free shuffleboard because the game was broken and made a mess of things. We each ordered about three pints, ordered two large pizzas and some breadsticks and still ended up under $100. There were four of us in all so for those of you keeping count at home that was 12 pints of beer, two supreme pizzas a large order of breadsticks and tip for less than $100. And the eye candy was an added bonus. The waitresses were friendly and I'm pretty sure we were drunkenly making passes at them all night. We got one of their numbers, but it didn't go anywhere, much like our shuffleboard game which took far too long. But hey, it was free. I recomend this place for food, drinks, waitress oggling, pool, shuffleboard, or just to chill with friends. There are two bars, a main one and a smaller one by the pool tables, ample seating for dinner, and ledges for when the place gets really crowded. When we left, the eatery was beginning to fill up but there were still plenty of stools, ledges, and leather seats available. I assume it is not like this after Grand Rapids Griffins games - the stadium casts a shadow on the bar. As for decor, the place is a bit modern and a bit industrial. The cieling shows the metal vents and the walls are old brick which is pretty cool. The restaurant has a ton of natural light because the front is all windows. The bar has a nice collection of beers to match the nice collection of college, high school and professional football helmets scattered around the place. Stop by and see if you can guess which teams are which. I only missed two - the local high schools. Not to bad for someone two hours away.

Ok, I've given this place so many chances, there's a section in the dictionary just for Peppino's and the word chance. Although, they have great specials now and again, the pizza is ok, the wings are bad and the service is worse, it is always a suggestion of someone near to me or around me. I can't tell you how many times I've sat waiting and waiting and waiting........ for someone to help me. I feel the staff is on their own agenda. "Oh, there's someone at that table? In my section? Well, anyway, last night, Billy totally got wasted and slept in my bed....." I work in the food and beverage industry and the LEAST I expect is a little recognition that I'm actually a living, breathing customer. OR! If you do know me, you should know that I don't have all day, all night or anything in between to be sitting in your wooden stool for. I just want to eat, drink and be on my merry way. Not everyone is horrible. Becca, one of the servers, knows the deal. She is quick, attentive and makes shit happen. Same with Tony the bartender. Yeah buddy, my beer is almost gone and yes, I want another. Food? Sure do. Let's make it happen. And his knowledge of 80's hair bands will blow your mind. The location is convenient, there's plenty of space for big parties, if you like the douchen tee, oh, i mean Golden Tee, they have that. with pool tables and a shuffleboard, which I've read is whacky-no worky. Ugh.

I can't not give Peppinos 4 stars...and it hurts me not to give it 5. I love their pizza and their cheesy sticks and I miss them delivering these to me at 2 in the morning!!! They use fresh ingredients and turn out a very consistent product. Having lived downtown GR for long enough to know that the "drunk 20 something D-Bags" (very aptly named, I couldn't help but reuse this) are nearly impossible to avoid, I can't fault Peppinos for housing them - especially since this institution began near the Grand Valley State campus and so is still loved by all of us who were chopping at the bit for it to move to an acceptable location downtown (thanks for waiting until after I left, Peppinos). My advice here would be go with your friends and ignore the random assortment of clientele. I was super pumped on my last visit to GR to learn that not only was this location open for me to finally try out, but it had shuffleboard at it (and I had just learned to play shuffleboard the night before at a bar north of Peppinos - Our Tavern...)! I. was. pumped! Okay, soooo don't play the shuffleboard here! DON'T YOU DO IT! Yes, its free (big plus), but the shuffleboard is NOT LEVEL! uhhhh I know I am new to the whole shuffleboard thing, but ... thats a little bit important. It slopes on both sides and you can only slide down the exact center! This is a problem. Not to mention that the score board doesn't work, so don't waste quarters by trying to make it come to life. Shuffleboard was very disappointing... ALL of that being said, the 4 stars is based on their excellent and always delish food and good selection of local beers on tap as well as a pretty well put together spot. Skip the shuffleboard and just head over to Our Tavern after some beers and pizza (AND cheesy sticks!!) and play over there...
(4)Amber L.
Overpriced mediocre food. Their buffet line is a bit gross...and whatever you do, don't try the dessert pizza. It's little more than pie filling slathered over a piece of gummy dough. I think the highlight of the whole place is customizable pizza and pasta. Some of the pricer items on the menu taste pretty okay, but really, it's hard to justify the cost. Service is usually a little slow if you're on a time limit, but there are a few skilled waitresses that work there. Also, the take-out line is usually overcrowded and horrendously slow.
(2)Carmen S.
I've tried to make this place work because it was so convenient, but time and time again they disappoint me. Food is overpriced and management is horrible. I have never been treated with such disrespect and will never return again.
(1)Rob S.
Nice location near VanAndel Arena, good place to go before or after an event. We went on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but our wait was not as long as the hostess estimated. We did an appetizer and pizza. The fried sausage ravioli is awesome, our alfredo pizza was pretty good as well. The prices are fair. The only real downside was that the place was quite loud. Granted, it was full, and there was a MI State b-ball game on most of the numerous TV's, but it was really loud. Not just annoying loud, but really freaking-can't converse with the person next to you-Chucky Cheese birthday party-college kegger in a small apartment-loud. When we walked out the silence overcame us like a warm blanket. We may go again, but maybe on a weeknight. My ears are still ringing.
(3)Rain H.
Peppinos is my most favorite pizza place in all of GR. people that are leaving bad reviews....I'm pretty shocked. Their prices are great and the pizza is my most favorite ever!!! Come here at the least once a month to get their pizzas. Definitely would recommend!!!!
(5)Ashlee P.
Well let me start by saying that I called at exactly 1:30am to order take out and after 15 minutes no one has picked up. After 5 mins i thought maybe I made the wrong selection by pressing "2" for takeout so my sister called. She's now been waiting over 10 mins and "continued to hold" for someone to pick up. I've now been waiting 18 mins and still no answer, will continue to wait until I reach the 20 min mark, after that I Won't be calling them again.... Funny, I just tried to share a pic of my call record and hold time. Realized their pics are all from employees and aren't recent. Booo peppinos, sorry to say you definitely lost my business.
(1)Tim C.
Just terrible service. My girlfriend and I went there for a Wings game and some food, and were told a 25 minute wait. No big deal. I grabbed a beer and sat at a chair on the perimeter of the restaurant. After an hour, we noticed that there were still quite a few people waiting around, and then started to notice at least 3-4 tables empty, but no one who was waiting was being seated. Then, we see a couple come in right off the street, sit down, and get served. Really? I brought this to the attention to the hostess, who could not have cared less. I asked why people were just walking in and sitting down, when we had been waiting over an hour. she looked at me, said, "Oh...", and walked away. Will not be going back to this place anytime soon. We used to come here once a week but this situation was completely ridiculous. Not a single time did I see a manager either.
(1)Chris S.
This section of Grand Rapids is littered with bars, places to eat and young people looking to get out and have fun, day and night, so why choose Peppino's over the others? Don't just do so because of the number of pretty waitresses who work here, come because the food is better than average, there's a ample amount of large, flat screens to watch games and this place serves up a fun, friendly atmosphere. It's the kind of place you can head to with friends, the family or on a date. The food, too, is better than you'll get at places with a similar atmosphere. If you compare this to Brann's, Hooters, Buffalo Wild Wings, Old Chicago, etc, there is no comparison. The food here is several notches better, as is the service and the experience. It might be slightly more expensive, but you're paying for fresher, well cooked food, rather than frozen and recently thawed stuff. The salads at Peppino's are worth sharing, especially, if you're drinking and ordering a pizza. And, there's plenty of booze available. As for the pizzas, I've only tried the thin crust and I'd order it again. It had good crust, great flavor and we enjoyed every bite. You will too.
(4)Steve M.
Outstanding service, and great food. I come to GR about 6 days every month, and this is a must stop when I'm in town. Best spot for weekend TV sports, best spots for Sunday Bloody Mary's. But most of all, you are a regular the first time you show up.
